Call for Play Submissions: Night of 1,000 Plays

Submissions are now closed.

The response to this year's Night has been so overwhelming that we are forced to put the brakes on additional submissions, or else risk having to actually perform 1,000 plays!

Please be on the lookout for our 2020 announcement!

Calling all Playwrights – 2019’s Night of 1,000 Plays is here!

Are you a playwright, or sketch writer? Or, do you dream of being one and seeing your work produced on a stage that’s not in your basement? Here’s your chance! Haddonfield Plays & Players is now accepting original short play submissions for its 3rd annual production of “Night of 1,000 Plays!”

Many area theater folks will fondly recall Philadelphia’s Brick Playhouse on South Street, and its annual short play festival, “Night of 1,000 Plays,” an evening of 20+ very short pieces of mostly five minutes or less in length. With full tribute and homage to The Brick, HP&P has revived this annual tradition featuring dozens of local writers, directors and actors coming together in June for a fun-filled evening of organized chaos!

The call for directors and actors will come later, but at this point we are looking for writers to submit their pieces for consideration. Plays should be 5 minutes or less – although a couple of longer pieces may be considered (8-10 minutes max!) Any genre is welcome; but the length tends to best lend itself to comedy. Writers may submit as many pieces as they like!

Please feel free to send pieces that were previously submitted, as well so that we can take a fresh look for 2019.

This year’s deadline for submissions will be April 28th.
